What is filtration media?

Filtration media are different clay, alumina, silica, carbon, etc., used to remove undesirables from your product, such as cannabis extracts.

Can MB media help remediate more than just color?

Can I mix MB media with other media?

You can mix any media, but always beware of mixing different-sized media; various pressures might not be optimal for specific media and can impact flow rates.

Can I reuse the media?

It’s hard to judge because everyone’s system, SOP, starting material, end goal, etc.. is different. It can be reused, but that will depend on what you are happy with. With each consecutive run, the media’s efficacy will decrease.

What is the turnaround time?

Generally 24 hours; it May take up to 48, depending on the order. Weekends are excluded.

How long will it take for my order to ship?

If you place your order before 1:00 p.m. PST Monday through Friday, we will likely ship it the same day. Otherwise, it will be shipped the next day. We do not currently send orders on weekends.

Processing Questions

How do I use MB filtration media?

For best results, it is recommended that you use a dedicated media column, but you can load the media directly into your material column first and biomass on top; however, it won’t be as effective. 

What is the recommended operating PSI?

Our 30/60 granular size (CRX/Y) have a recommended psi of about 20-40psi and our medium flow 60/90 is about 45-60psi. 

What are the recommended usage ratios?

CRX/Y and CR41 usage ratios are about 150-250g per # of biomass, and our Carbon and Silica ratios are roughly 5-10% of the estimated extract in a solution. See also our recommended SOP.

How do I regulate flow?

Regulate flow with a needle valve on the output of your CRC; the sweet spot is having a slightly higher inlet psi, roughly 30-50psi, and restricting your output needle valve enough that your CRC column is full or mostly full, allowing the solvated oil to contact time with the media if during processing you start to see too much color you can restrict more flow giving higher residence time and better color removal.

Is there any yield loss?

When used with a solvent ratio of roughly 7-1 to 10-1, you should see negligible yield loss; if you believe you have some yield loss, increase your solvent ratio and or flush the media with fresh solvent after every run to collect any potential yield loss.

What is the recommended micron size?

Our minimum recommended micron size is 1um; however, with some fine powders like Carbon and Silica, there can still be a potential for contamination, especially when processing with higher psi; consider utilizing a submicron filter like our Ulti filter when using powders for added assurance.

Do I need to create an account to order online?

No, you do not have to have an account to place orders, but it can be beneficial if you plan on using our media.

From our “Sign In” screen, click “Forgot Password” and enter the email address associated with your online account. If an account is associated with that email address, you will receive an email with instructions on resetting your password.

Can I see my order history?

How do I know if an item is in stock?

If you can add an item to your cart on our website, it should be available to purchase! If an item is unavailable, there will usually be a backorder warning. We will contact you directly if we have issues fulfilling an order you’ve placed due to inventory.

How long will it take for an item to be restocked?

What if I can’t find what I am looking for online?
